FROG PITS (ongoing)

Natural-landscape complex named "Frog pits" is a nature and landscape legally-protected area located in the center of the highly-urbanized region of Upper Silesia in Poland. For decades this place has been shaped by the intensive mining and metallurgy exploitation. Resulting from human activities and then abandoned water reservoirs, mining landslides, heaps, railway embankments were recognized as one of the most valuable natural areas of high biological diversity and richness. Despite the significant contamination this place became a home for 130 species of birds which attract attention of ornithologists and amateurs animal watchers.
